MARS report expects 3.25 t/ha yields for rapeseed

For rapeseed, the start of the week was heading north. The front month of May increased by 8.75 euros to 457 euros/t and thus also pushed up the spot market prices. The rapeseed price development is also supported by the renewed tensions after the terrorist attack in Moscow. As a result, tensions between Russia and Ukraine have increased. The EU Commission's MARS report published yesterday shows a better yield forecast for rapeseed in Europe than last year. Due to the weather developments in the season so far, the forecast service expects average yields of 3.25 tons/ha, compared to 3.2 tons/ha last year. This also exceeds the five-year average of 3.18 tonnes. In Winnipeg, contracts were under pressure late last week as Canadian export volumes disappointed. Domestic processing figures are also down compared to January, but are higher than a year ago. Yesterday, however, Canola was able to increase again due to the very friendly conditions in the soy market.
