Market developments & supply situation
In the sixth calendar week of 2026, the potato market in Germany remains characterized by a significant
supply surplus. Stocks from the above-average 2025 harvest remain
high, while demand in the food retail sector is seasonally calm. Export impulses remain
limited, as neighboring countries also have sufficient quantities.
European Processing Potato Index (EPPI)
The most recently published near-market reference value for industrial goods at the beginning of January 2026 is around
6.5 €/100 kg. This means that the price level in the processing segment remains well below long-term
and confirms the weak demand from the industry.
Regional producer prices (€/dt)
Northern Germany: around €10-14/dt
North Rhine-Westphalia: around €16/dt
German average: approx. 14 €/dt
