The calm atmosphere with the table potatoes also lasts towards the weekend. The offer from the field is decreasing significantly and many cellar promotions are coming to an end. Since many sales campaigns in the food retail trade have ended, demand remains extremely calm. The listings were able to increase slightly on a weekly basis in the national average. Surcharges were achieved in particular at the upper end of the trading range, with the Reka recently noting a surcharge of 5 euros for sweaty premium stock goods. In the case of processing potatoes, the factories only call off contract goods. Free quantities are rarely asked, if at all. Many growers would like to forego storage this year because of the increased costs, but in many cases they have no choice but to store the tubers. The futures market does not currently offer any significant premiums to the current prices to hedge goods. The Reka lowered its listings for Fontane/Challenger by 2 euros to 22 euros/dt for Innovator 23 euros/dt instead of 25 euros/dt last week. In Belgium, prices are stable. Up to 85 percent of the potato cultivation areas are said to have been cleared here.In Flanders, however, the harvest is partly behind schedule, and the areas still to be cleared amount to 30 percent. Similar to Germany, there is hardly any demand for free quantities here either. However, deals can certainly be made for later deliveries. There has recently been lively trading in processing potatoes again on the EEX . Today the tubers are growing significantly by 0.90 euros/dt. Overall, however, the price level has fallen since the beginning of the harvest. For April 23, 24.60 euros/dt are being traded today at noon.
