Prices for table potatoes remained mostly unchanged and availability also remained largely at the previous week's level. However, the differences in the quality of the goods on offer are enormous, as storage facilities had deteriorated in some areas due to the fall vacations. As a result, potatoes that are entering the market due to a lack of storage stability are at the bottom end of the price range, while good qualities are in demand and are therefore commanding significant price premiums. As demand is reported to be picking up in the food retail sector and export demand is also increasing, supply pressure is easing somewhat. Those who are able to store and have goods that can be stored are waiting and hoping for firmer price trends. Potato prices for the most traded April date on the EEX are also moving sideways in a relatively stable manner without any major fluctuations.
