The table potato market shows a slight supply surplus and is dominated by domestic produce. For the most part, business is quiet. Demand is stagnating but is still described as steady. Promotions in the food retail sector continue to provide impetus. Prices remain at the current level. There are also no signs of movement.
Italian and Cypriot produce is increasingly being offered on the markets for table potatoes. Overall, however, the proportion remains low. Accordingly, prices in this area remain unchanged and there is currently no room for negotiation. It remains to be seen whether the European asparagus season, which has already begun, can have an impact on potato sales.
Industrial potatoes are continuing their price decline. Demand for free industrial produce remains very limited. The factories are fully supplied. Accordingly, potato prices on the EEX are continuing their downward trend.
