The potato market is quiet after the festive period. The availability of table potatoes is sufficient to cover demand. The slowdown is not as severe as many experts had assumed. Old and poorer quality goods are no longer available on the market, freeing up space for good quality lots. It can be assumed that the price margins will narrow and that storage premiums will become due as time goes on. Domestic offers are only marginally supplemented by lots from France and the Netherlands. Early table potatoes from Cyprus are attracting little attention.
Prices on the EEX in Frankfurt rose slightly and have continued this trend since the beginning of the year. The currently traded April futures price is currently €31/dt.
The market for industrial potatoes is picking up significantly. The REKA quotations are showing a clear upward trend.
