The ware potato market is largely balanced. Demand in the food retail sector can be described as normal and calm for the time of year. Sales are supported by appropriate advertising measures.
Supply on the potato market is largely in line with demand, although not plentiful. Producers were able to assert themselves accordingly with price premiums. At the same time, quality deficiencies are having a slight impact on the market. Exports have calmed down after price increases were recently implemented. This is unlikely to continue, as customers do not always go along with these prices. Imports of table potatoes attracted little attention. Only Cypriot Annabel reported increased interest.
Prices on the EEX fell significantly in the second week. Prices are now 2 €/dt below the high of two weeks ago.
On the industrial potato market, prices in Western Europe remain mostly unchanged at the level reached.
