Contrary to previous expectations, Christmas sales in the food retail sector are only picking up modestly. In isolated cases, special promotions are boosting demand. The table potato market is also unexcited and covering demand. The current range of varieties remains unchanged. The supply is still being supplemented by goods in stock. In some cases, this also includes inferior qualities that are hardly being sold. Accordingly, there are large price differences. Significant price increases are no longer expected during the Christmas week, even if demand increases. On the other hand, imports of high-quality goods are also being registered across borders. The first imports of good quality early table potatoes were very expensive, which is why sales were rather restrained.
The industrial potato market is currently recording firm prices. According to information from the chambers of agriculture, REKA is quoting a premium of €1.50 to €2.50/100 kg, depending on the variety.

Christmas business will probably not bring any price increases for ware potatoes. Stocks are still overshadowing supply. The first good quality imports are entering the domestic market. Industrial potato prices remain firm.
