There is currently little movement on the table potato market. The markets remain calm and balanced ahead of the Christmas season. There is currently no sign of an upturn in demand due to the Christmas trade. However, this should change in the coming weeks. Prices for sweated goods have largely held their ground. The quantities of the current harvest that have not yet been sold have often suffered discounts due to quality defects.
Quality also plays a significant role in pricing on the industrial potato market. There is no clear direction in which prices move. Rather, it depends on the respective processors.
Potato prices on the EEX in Leipzig continued their downward trend for the most traded April contract. The market seems to be expecting a further move southwards.
