In our latitudes, good prices can only be obtained for first-class goods. Sales of ware potatoes are satisfactory. Prices have remained stable. In contrast, processed goods are still under pressure. Demand and prices for French fries have fallen. However, it is assumed that the market will soon consolidate and the lower fundamental limit will be reached.
Imports of foreign produce are steadily increasing. The majority of produce coming to Germany is from Cyprus and France.
The slow start to the asparagus season is having an increasingly positive effect on sales of early table potatoes. The quality is predominantly rated as good. However, supply and demand are still balanced at present.
Planting is progressing well due to the mild weather. For the future market assessment, it remains to be seen whether the plants will survive the spring without frost.
