Current developments on the potato market show a largely stable situation. The assortment has hardly changed compared to the previous week and availability remains constant. In Munich, however, there has been increased demand for domestic annabelle, which has somewhat expanded the accommodation options. Despite this demand, listings remain stable overall.
In Hamburg, on the other hand, the first reductions were recorded, indicating weak interest. The potato harvest is benefiting from optimal conditions, bringing supply and demand into balance. In particular, the cooler temperatures and promotions by food retailers are boosting demand.
Producers' storage activities are also helping to reduce the pressure on supply. On the EEX commodity futures exchange in Leipzig, however, the most traded April futures contract had to give up price gains recently. Future price increases could be caused by shipping and export trading, but activity here is currently still limited as there are sufficient regional stocks.
