The state supports the market with massive stock purchases. Only for the consumption-intensive month of Jan 2024 is it again expected to be €2.93/kg. The price problem is mainly due to the weak income. Conclusion: Meat sales have become more lively again with the end of the holiday season and the friendly barbecue weather. Neck and fillets are sometimes even tight. The range of live pigs for slaughter and advance registrations remain limited. The price reductions in the neighboring countries left little impression in Germany.

A combination of a reduced supply of livestock and a demand that picked up after the holiday season stopped a further fall in prices. Support comes from the favorable barbecue weather. There is hope that prices will develop stably at this level.
