Export of pork to China: Germany is left behind The China export business with pork is increasingly bypassing Germany . Of the 85% increase in Chinese imports in 2020, Germany received comparatively little with + 5%. The big winners are Spain, the USA and Brazil, with delivery volumes more than doubling over the previous year. Denmark and Holland also grew strongly. The cause is the ASP on German soil . The Chinese and some other importing countries strictly refuse to import pork from countries that are not recognized as ASF-free. The regionalization principle only applies in the EU internal market, but not automatically for third countries. Negotiations have so far been unsuccessful. The exception is Thailand, but with low import volumes. For the year 2021, China's own generation and a decrease in imports are predicted. However, recent ASF findings show that a virus mutant is rampant . A vaccine with limited effectiveness is said to have played a role. The incidents are still largely in the dark.
