Danish pig rises again

Livestock census in DK: pig on July 1 to 1.8% higher than in the previous year

The quarterly count of cattle at the date of 1 July 2014 resulted in a boost of the entire Schweinebestandes to + 1.8% compared to the previous year. Compared to the previous data acquisition on 1 April 2014 surrendered almost the same increase. Thus, the multi-year decline in pig farms in DK has come to stand.  Great potential for extension is no longer available in DK because the exhausted space available.

The Danish sows increased by 1.5% compared to the previous date. The large structured piglet production in Denmark with average 500 pigs per holding is latest. The requirements of the new EU sows attitude regulation were overcome without major problems. Productivity is at a high level.

The expansion of the Danish sows stock will ensure in the future that the pig exports rise more easily. The deliveries still go to 55% for Germany, but the Eastern European countries – above all Poland - have increasing demand.

The Russian import lock has also affected DK, but the Danish pork industry aimed mainly at export has a wide range of outlets all over the world. So you have to post Danes again significant in Japan, South Korea, Philippines export increases in the first half of 2014 .

Also in many parts of the EU , the herds at the end of the year to take again. Possibly, the Russian import lock is put a small damper.
