Organic seal

The best-known organic labels in Germany:

1. Hexagonal organic seal: This state label stands for organic production and animal welfare in accordance with EU legislation. At least 95% of the ingredients of agricultural origin must come from organic farming.
2. Bioland trademark: Bioland guidelines go beyond the EC Organic Regulation. Gardeners, farmers, winegrowers, fruit producers, beekeepers and manufacturers work according to these stricter guidelines. For example, the use of fertilizer is limited and there is a lower number of animals allowed per hectare.
3. Naturland logo: This organic farming association has strict guidelines that also cover sustainable fishing and the production of textiles and cosmetics.
4. Demeter label: This label guarantees biodynamic farming methods according to strict rules. Demeter farmers regard their farm as a "living, unique organism".
