Oilseed rape (Brassica napus) is a plant species of the genus Brassica within the cruciferous family (Brassicaceae). It is an economically important crop. The seeds are mainly used to produce rapeseed oil and the by-product rapeseed cake. In 2007, three quarters of the rapeseed oil produced in Germany was used for the production of biofuels or for utilization in industry. Rapeseed is traded on Euronext (MATIF) Paris and on ICE Futures Canada, formerly the "Winnipeg Commodity Exchange" (WCE). The Euronext specification: here (ZMP Futures).
