DRV: German grain harvest is nearly 4% lower than in the weak previous year The German Raiffeisenverband (DRV) is reducing its previous estimates of the German grain harvest to well below last year's level. Due to drought-induced low yield expectations in large growing regions, the harvest should amount to only 43.76 million t . For comparison: in the previous peak year 2014, the harvest was over 51 million t. With the acreage largely unchanged , the low area yields are fully impacting the result. Instead of an average of 73 dt / ha, DRV estimates that only about 70 dt / ha will be harvested.But the conditions are regionally different. The south and west of Germany has received mostly sufficient rainfall, the grain stocks there look quite promising. A wide area in the north and northeast have seen little rain for 6 to 8 weeks. Less water-retaining sites show typical drought damage . Barley is easily reached on weak sites. In extreme cases, the combine harvest is sometimes not worthwhile, it was found. The wheat is regularly in better locations. Nevertheless, the DRV expects a harvest reduction of 6.5%, which is partly yield-related, partly due to cultivation.In the autumn sowing it was often too wet, so that the winter fruit order frequently omitted. The total barley harvest should be -1.5% only slightly worse. Is it because of the fact that the summer barley areas have been extended considerably. Nevertheless, at just under 65 dt / ha, the estimated area yield remains too low. Rye and triticale are best with weak water conditions. However, the yield level of 52 to 60 dt / ha is clearly below the other cereals .
Auch der Mais soll trotz fast 5 % vergrößerter Anbaufläche keine volle Ertragsleistung bringen und im Ergebnis um 4,2 % unter Vorjahresernte bleiben.
Deutschland steht nicht alleine dar mit trockenheitsbedingten Erntebeeinträchtigungen. Die südlichen Gebiete Skandinaviens, große Teile Polens und der südliche Teil Russlands haben ebenfalls viel zu wenig Niederschlag erhalten. Auch von dort häufen sich die Meldungen mit erheblich verringerten Ernteschätzungen.
Der DRV weist darauf hin, dass bis zu endgültigen Ernte noch einige Risiken offenbleiben. Das letzte Wort ist die diesjährige Ernte noch nicht gesprochen.
