The soon-to-expire November contract on Paris Euronext/Matif climbed to EUR 334.00/t yesterday, while the most traded March 23 follow-on contract rose marginally and closed at EUR 332.50/t. The EU-27 imported a total of 9.04 million tons of corn by 23 October 2022. At the same time last year, the figure was 4.26 million tons. The main buyers in Europe are primarily Spain and the Netherlands, but Poland has also already imported considerable quantities. Corn contracts on the CBoT also headed north. Although the ongoing harvest work is keeping the price trend in check, firmer indications from the soy complex, rising oil prices and technical buying supported the market trend. Pre-market trading on the eCBoT today shows no clear trend.
