- GDT auction in April 2021 confirms the price level reached so far with minor surcharges and discounts.
The first April 2021 auction of Global Dairy Trade (GDT) brought only a few changes in prices. Normal butter made the decisive contribution to the overall result. The envelope amounts are in accordance with the normal seasonal development failed smaller than in the Vorauktion. Whole milk powder (VMP) achieved no change in the previous price level on average. Pure butter takes another step towards rising prices with + 0.8%. The high surcharges in the later months are striking. The butter fat is extremely scarce in Asia. The average product price increased again to $ 6,209 / t and is thus at the top level. Normal butter performed best with an average of +2.0%. The delivery month Oct.-21 reached the highest price increase in this auction with +5.6%. The absolute butter price is fixed at $ 5,776 / t in the category of maximum prices. EEX Leipzig is quoted the equivalent of $ 4,749 / t and Chicago prices are $ 3,827 / t. Despite the minor changes, the latest auction results underline the fundamental upward trend in recent auctions. The availability of dairy products is limited, especially in Asia.In the EU and the USA, the butter prices lag significantly behind. The milk season is coming to an end in the southern hemisphere. In the northern hemisphere, one usually expects a seasonal increase in delivery.
