Denmark's increase in piglet exports to Denmark is a piglet surplus . The reason is that, for environmental reasons, animal husbandry is limited. Since keeping sows is less polluting than pig fattening, pigmeat production has been expanding for over a decade . For this, the herd of sows does not need to be increased in every case, because more piglets can be produced by increasing piglets per sow and year.In the years from 2012 to 2015 , the stock of sows was increased in small batches with the result that the excess piglet quantities were all the more forced into the export. Annual increases in export figures ranged from 5% to 12% . The year 2016 brought with low pig prices a strong cut in sow husbandry. The exports of piglets increased with approx. 3% less strong . For the current year 2017 , with fluctuating monthly exports of piglets, only a growth rate of 2.5% is calculated. Extrapolated to the whole year, around 13.5 million export pigs are expected. The latest livestock census results from 1 Oct. 2017 show a significant increase in sow numbers. Therefore it can be assumed that in 2018 increasing quantities of export piglets will be available again. In the past, approx.Half of piglet exports to Germany . However, the share has not risen. Increasingly, Danish piglets are transported to Poland . In Poland, sowing stock has been reduced by more than half since the EU accession year 2004. Polish stock sizes were too small and uncompetitive. Beyond that the African swine fever at the Russian border for a low investment inclination.
