EU Sauenbetsände little - piglet remain scarce and expensive

EU sows stocks continue to decline - 1.8%.   The recent results of the last common livestock censuses in the Dec. 2016 revealed 25 evaluated EU Member States a decline in numbers of sows to - 1.8% compared with the previous year of 2015. Total approximately 12.3 million sows are across the EU kept. In the last 10 years has narrowed the EU stock of sows to rd 23%. Inventory development however is different in each country. In Spain are about 2.4 million the most sows held in the EU. The stock is been reduced last year by 2%. Spanish sow housing belongs not to the highly productive in the EU, but the costs are labour due to the climate, and quite favourable ratios. Only 1.9 million sows were counted in Germanyd or - 3.45% less than in the previous year .   Productivity is higher than in Spain, but not sufficient, to meet the demand for piglets. Germany imported about 20% of its needs with focus from the Netherlands and Denmark.  France sow housing has declined only by 1% compared with the previous year on rd. 1 million sows.   In the last 10 years the country has reduced its holdings of sows rd 22%. Danish sows stocks could assert themselves at the expense of fattening pigs just In this country, with a small surface facilities the piglet production is maintained at least. For this, the Porker capacity to shut down systematically.  Denmark now generates 12 million piglets for exporting. Holland retracts his sow housing less than-3% after years of stabilization. Increasing environmental concerns in a country with a low surface facilities are background. For the export be rd. 6 million animals on the way to Germany and surrounding States brought. Italy sow housing goes back another 4%. The country has lost almost 30% of his sows stocks over the last 10 years. The pig farming concentrated on Northern Italy comes increasingly to the limits of their endurance. The lack of reception rates during the warm season consume the adequate reproduction performance in piglets productionin the Eastern European countries is to be expected with a continued decline in the holdings of the sows. The EU lacks competitiveness compared to the production areas in the West. In Poland , the tide seems to be turning. In the last , Poland has lost more than 53% of its sows 10 years. In jüngster time a turnaround seems to occur, Dec. 2016 + 5.5% more sows were considered in a previous year.   Nevertheless, imported Poland piglets per year more than 4.5 million with a focus on Denmark. For 2017 is expected to lower sow stocks in the EU . However, a part of missing young due to the increase in performance is balanced by higher performance of piglets per sow and year.   With a full compensation is however not counted. Piglet will be 2017 still scarce and relatively high on the price.
