Experts and market observers worry about the this year's wheat crop in France. It would rain soon urgently to prevent crop failures. A cold wave that moved this week over large parts of Europe over, however, probably has little influence on the EU cereals crop 2017.
Last year, France, the EU's largest wheat producer has retracted the worst wheat crop for a decade. In the spring, it was too wet and dry in the summer. The fear is, that it exactly the opposite way comes this year and once again gives a poor grain harvest. For the French branch of the grain that would be disastrous, says Michel Porter from the market analyst Agritel.
The cold period has slowed the growth of grain this week with sunny sections and the plants need less water therefore, it must rain strongly but in the next two weeks. Locally, temperatures fell to-5 ° and even up to-6 ° C. Significant precipitation are not seen by the meteorological services at least for the next week.
