Russia has reported the outbreak of the highly contagious avian influenza H5N2 virus at a farm in the west of the country in the Kostromskaya region. This was reported by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) and refers to a report by the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.
The virus has killed 506 animals from a herd of more than 500,000 animals from a Harino plant, OIE said in a note. Another 1,223 animals were culled. The species / breed of affected birds was not specified.
