Farmers in Ukraine have already begun corn harvesting. The initial results show an average result of four tonnes / hectare.
The Minister of Agriculture said today that this year has grown to 4.5 million hectares of corn. Last year, 28 million tonnes of maize were harvested in the country.
The wheat harvest has already been completed there. 26.5 million tonnes were harvested with an average yield of 4.17 tonnes / hectare.
In addition, 8.6 million tonnes of barley were harvested in the Ukraine this year.
The total Ukrainian grain cultivation area this year amounts to 14.3 million hectares. This includes 6.4 million hectares of wheat, 4.77 million hectares of corn and 2.5 million hectares of barley and 1 million hectares of other cereals and cereals.
The ministry estimated the harvest to be 63 million tonnes, compared to 66 million tonnes of grain in the previous year.
