Oilseed market: high soy supply - soy prices fall significantly In its latest September 23 edition, the IGC slightly reduced global soybean production for 2023/24 compared to the previous month's estimate, but the overall result remains well above the previous year's level with an increase of almost 8%. The world harvest is estimated at 396 million t and consumption is expected to be 388 million t . This means that a build-up of stocks is foreseeable, which will total almost 62 million tonnes at the end of the year. Such a supply situation is well suited to reducing soybean prices. In the USA , drought has reduced the originally high expectations of a bountiful soybean harvest in 2023. US production is reduced by -3.3% to just 113 million t. Expected exports are correspondingly low, falling from 54 million tonnes last year to 49 million tonnes this year. In contrast, the Brazilian harvest in 2023 (in the first half of the year) has increased from 127 to 155 million. t gestiegen und man erwartet vom kommenden Jahr 2024 aufgrund der Aussaatflächen eine weitere Steigerung auf 160 Mio. t. Der IGC erwartet eine Steigerung der Exporte um rd. 26 %.
Nach dem trockenheitsbedingt katastrophalen Halbjahr 2023 mit nur 22 Mio. t soll die Sojaproduktion in Argentinien im 1. Halbjahr 2024 wieder auf übliche 44 Mio. t ansteigen.
Auf der Verbrauchsseite steht China mit einer Menge von 119 Mio. t bzw. 31 % auf Weltebene an vorderster Stelle. Davon werden im eigenen Land nur 21 Mio. t produziert und rd. 100 Mio. t importiert. China betreibt nebenher einen systematischen Vorratsaufbau.
Für die EU-27 schätzt der IGC eine Sojabohnenerzeugung von 2,8 Mio. t. Zur Bedarfsdeckung werden rd. 14,3 Mio. t Bohnen importiert. Dazu kommen weitere 16 Mio. t Sojaschroteinfuhren.
Die Sojalieferungen aus der Ukraine sollen von 3,1 auf 1,9 Mio. t zurückfallen.
