Preview of the pork market, the EU Commission and the expert group
In its latest edition of the monthly market reports, the Commission due to the livestock census results estimates an increase of pork production in the first two quarters by 2015 by + 1.4% and + 0.6%. The previous figures from the quarter years for the years 2012 are based on actual results and serve as a basis for comparison.
The Group of experts on the pork market in the Member States comes to a very different result. According to the sum of its estimates he shall remain unchanged compared with the prior-year quarter prior to place situations in 2015 that lower fall from generation to 0.1% 1st quarter and 2nd quarter. These different assessment does, that the livestock census results were again corrected by experts due to Plausibiltätsprüfungen or experience. In particular the conversion of registration practice in Italy makes problems.
The difference between the two estimates could have significant implications for the spring rates. An increase in production should push in the first 3 months considerably on prices. Overlooking the timely supply of the barbecue season, a largely unmodified production development could contribute to a moderate reduction of in pork prices.
The price forecast for the last quarter of 2014 is to €140,73 per 100 kg of the class E.
Price forecasts were not submitted for the spring / early summer 2015.
