Canada: Less Oilseeds - Hope for Fixed Prices The Canadian Bureau of Statistics has published the most recent crop acreage in this marketing year. The results differed depending on the fruit and sowing conditions. The total wheat acreage from durum and winter / spring wheat was reduced by 0.6% to 9.95 million ha. Due to the weak demand for Durum , this proportion of land has been reduced proportionately by around 20% . The sowing conditions were disturbed on the one hand by dryness and on the other hand by prolonged rains . Rape cultivation was reduced by 8.2% to 8.5 million ha . Despite not always favorable sowing conditions, maize cultivation increased slightly by 1.9% to 1.5 million ha. Barley cultivation area increased by 14% to almost 3 million ha. The main driving factor was the relatively good barley prices, which had come about due to the worldwide shortage of supplies.In the other smaller areas for oats, lentils and peas , larger areas were ordered everywhere, but they have little influence on the market. Conclusion: For the local market, the significantly reduced Canadian rape area is of interest, because Canada and the EU together rd. 55% of the world rapeseed produce.
