DRV: Corrected rapeseed harvest estimate 2020 - 3.25 million t In its latest estimate of the German rapeseed harvest, the German Raiffeisen Association (DRV) comes to 3.25 million tons. The result is approx. 15% better than last year, but remains significantly behind a 5-year average. The acreage determined by the Federal Office of Statistics is 11.7% above the previous year in 2020. The DRV estimates an average yield of 34.1 dt / ha , 3% higher than in 2019. Recent rainfall has improved the yield prospects compared to the previous month, but the soil water deficit remains. There are big differences between the individual federal states. Unusually high increases in harvest results can be seen in Sac hsen-Anhalt (+ 60.1%), Hesse (+59.5%) and Brandenburg (+51.8%), primarily due to increased acreage compared to the previous year arise. In 2019, due to the drought during the sowing, areas were not ordered or had to be broken. However, higher yield expectations of between 18 and 25% also contributed to the estimation of the harvest increase in the aforementioned growing regions with the exception of Hessen. Crop increases in the middle range between 17 to 32% are predicted in Bavaria and Thuringia .In these cases, too, in addition to manageable increases in yield, larger acreage is the main reason for the higher production. Lower rapeseed harvests are predicted in Schleswig-Holstein (-8.3%) and Baden-Württemberg (-5.2%). In SH it is primarily the lower yield expectations, while in Bavaria the reduced acreage is decisive. The current estimates of the area yields are still subject to uncertainties regarding future precipitation. The area data come from the latest surveys by the Stat. Federal Office dated May 15, 2020 and are considered to be sufficiently reliable.
