Mostly balanced European slaughter pig markets

(AMI)  The European slaughter pig markets are characterized by more or less balanced market conditions. The strong price increases such as in Germany are not in all countries that are common, but only in the immediate neighbourhood. The demand for pork is subdued after Easter. This is at least reported from France and Belgium. Demand is therefore in the new week.

Belgian Marketers speak of a satisfactory demand for halves on the part of Polish importers. The zloty relatively strong against the euro boosted trade. The increased cost prices of slaughter pigs in some areas in the form of higher meat prices have been implemented in the nation's meat supply. Ham and salmon prices rose but only slightly.

In France , there are around slight overhangs to slaughter pigs in the wake of the missing battle days to Easter. Overall, the market presents itself but balanced. A sufficient supply of hits on a normal demand of abattoirs. Also for the new pricing, no significant price movements can be expected.

Especially in Catalonia abattoirs Spanish signal a brisk demand for pigs for pork export to a third country. The export shows particularly pleasing after Japan. Even though in Italy the market is mostly balanced, slaughterhouses due to disappointing sales shops exert pressure on hog prices.
