COCERAL estimates EU grain harvest lower - wheat falls by 2% The European Agricultural Cooperatives' Confederation (COCERAL) estimates the EU grain harvest in its most recent edition to be just below last year's level . Due to the different weather conditions in the individual EU regions, the results vary from country to country. In the northern and eastern European regions such as Great Britain, Northern Germany, Poland, Scandinavian and Baltic countries , considerable harvest losses are sometimes detected. For Denmark , COCERAL expects a reduction of almost - 19% .In the UK , a reduction of -4.5% is expected. For Poland, a reduction of 1.3% is calculated. In Germany , the total harvest should be 2.4% smaller. The results spread in the individual federal states in a large spread. In Romania and Bulgaria , lower figures are also expected than in the previous year. In contrast, the Italian harvest rises by 4.3% and Spain is forecast to increase by 45% due to the catastrophic previous year. The French harvest should be only slightly smaller than last year.Different crops are forecasted for the individual cereals , both cultivation-related and yield-related. The entire wheat harvest should be reduced by -2% to approx. 147.5 million tonnes decline. In the case of barley , 60.8 million tonnes or +4.6% are estimated. On a similar scale, COCERAL also estimates the EU maize harvest. In the case of rye and triticale, smaller amounts are expected. While the underlying acreage is largely certain, there are still some changes in terms of yield expectations .
