Rapeseed contracts exited the second trading session of the week yesterday with marginal losses. The May date closed with a loss of 0.75 euros at 407.50 euros per ton. The follow-up contract August ended yesterday's trading session with a setback of EUR 0.50 and a closing price of EUR 408.50/t. Trading on the actual market in Germany remains quiet. The EU Commission's import figures published yesterday show that 3.6 million tonnes of rapeseed were imported into the EU by February 22nd. At this point in the previous year there were around 1.79 million tonnes more. Rapeseed meal exports are around 180,000 tonnes higher. Soy was imported into the European Union at roughly the same level as the previous year. However, due to technical problems, data from Ireland and Bulgaria are currently missing. The main supplier is and remains Ukraine, which provides around 2/3 of the import volumes. Imports from Australia are declining significantly. This is due to Ukraine's better delivery capacity as well as the smaller harvest down under and the current situation on the Red Sea.
