Oilseed market: high supply despite reduction in previous month's results The USDA estimate for December 2023 is somewhat more subdued than expectations in the previous month. Nevertheless, a production increase of +4.3% to 661 million t is expected, consumption is estimated at 650 million t. As a result, inventories will increase by around 11 million t and thus form a reassuring cushion for the global supply situation. According to the latest estimates, the world's dominant soybean harvest remains at 399 million t, just below the expected 400 million t in the previous month. Weather-related reductions in the Brazilian sown area are the main cause. Nevertheless, a repeat record harvest of 161 million t is expected in Brazil in spring 2024. The USA confirms its forecast with the recently completed harvest of 112.4 million tonnes. After the catastrophic previous years, an almost average harvest of 48 million tonnes is expected in Argentina . Global soy consumption is estimated at 387 million tons. Aus dem Verhältnis von Produktion und Verbrauch ergibt sich ein Aufbau der Vorratsbestände in Höhe von 12 Mio. t bzw. rd. + 9,5 % zum Vorjahr. Daraus läßt sich eine überdurchschnittlich gute Versorgungslage ableiten. Der in den Monaten Okt. und Nov. 2023 zu beobachtende Höhenflug der Sojakurse hat deutlich nachgegeben.
Die globale Rapsernte schätzt das USDA in seiner jüngsten Dez-23-Ausgabe mit knapp 87 Mio. t deutlich höher ein als im Vormonat mit 85 Mio. t. Ausschlaggebend ist u.a. eine höhere EU-Ernte. Die US-Schätzung der kanadischen Rapsproduktion geht noch von 18,8 Mio. t aus. Das kanadische Statistikamt hat jedoch in der letzten Woche ein Ergebnis von 17,4 Mio. t veröffentlicht.
