Germany: unchanged V- price 1.23 € / kg   The weekly battle figures remained comparatively high at 823,445 (previous week 668,544) due to a certain amount of catching up to do; the slaughter weights have risen to 97.5 kg (previous week 96.7 kg). After the holidays, the slaughter is usually a little higher. The pre-registrations are still low at 261,200 pigs (previous week 262,200). The reduced piglet stalls should slowly become noticeable. When reselling the pieces to food retailers, processors and for export, the average prices were reduced by -2 ct / kg . The decrease is due to the cutlet with -9 ct / kg .Experience has shown that the post-Christmas business is quite unsafe. The Covid pandemic is exacerbating the sales problem. The ISN auction on Tuesday, Jan 11, 2022 brought an average price of 1.28 (range 1.27-1.29) . When 1,795 pigs were offered, a protrusion of 54% remained.   The V price remained unchanged for the period from January 13th, 2022 to January 19th, 2022 at 1.23 € / kg; the range from 1.20 to 1.25 € / kg was reduced at the lower end. As of January 11, 2022, 3,156 wild boars infected with ASF have been officially confirmed in Brandenburg, Saxony and Mecklenburg. In Mecklenburg there have so far remained 4 cases of wild boar and 1 case of domestic pigs.   Market and price development in selected competing countries:   In Denmark the prices are in the 02.KW 2022 remained unchanged at 1.13 € / kg . Changes are not expected for the time being due to the Covid restrictions. In Belgium the prices remained unchanged in week 2, 2022 at just under 1 € / kg . In the Netherlands , too, the prices in the 2nd week have remained unchanged between 1.10 and 1.15 € / kg depending on the slaughterhouse. Changes are not expected. In France / Brittany , the previous prices of 1.247 € / kg have remained fixed despite the high number of slaughters over 407,000. In Italy the prices fell by - 3.5 ct / kg in the 2nd week of 2022. The weak demand at the beginning of the year continues. In Spain the prices have stabilized in the 2nd week 2022 at an unchanged level around 1.30 € / kg.In spite of the high live supply, sales are low. In the USA / IOWA , prices have risen further to 1.28 € / kg when the number of slaughters has fallen and cold store stocks are below average. The new front month Febr-22 is being traded a little more subdued on the Chicago stock exchange at 1.54 € / kg . Prices are expected to continue to rise in the first half of 2022. The background to this is the clearly decimated pig population. Brazil: On average, producer prices fell considerably with weaker REALs to € 1.07 / kg . An increased supply of life meets with weak domestic demand and a sharp drop in exports. The approved slaughterhouses have high expectations for future business with Russia with duty-free import quotas of 100,000 t of pork and 200,000 t of beef in the first half of 2022.China: The latest prices have fallen further to € 3.12 / kg. Preparations for the Chinese New Year, Anf. Feb.-22 have passed their peak. After the festival week, the prices usually drop sharply: the forward prices in the following months are only traded on the Dalian stock exchange at a level of € 2.58 / kg. In September 2022, however, the quotation is again € 3.30 / kg . Conclusion: The post-Christmas phase is usually low in demand. The Covid-related restrictions exacerbate the sales problem. The unit prices have largely remained stable so far; only the chop has lost -9 ct / kg. The live supply is still high. Hopes are directed towards low slaughter numbers in the future due to the reduced piglet stalls in the previous months.
