COCERAL: estimates EU rapeseed production for 2020 and 2021 In its Dec. 20 edition, the umbrella association of grain and oilseed traders estimated the EU rapeseed harvest in 2020 to be 15.9 million t. In the two largest growing areas, low harvests were recorded in Germany with 3.5 million t and in France with approx. 3.26 million t is estimated. In both cases, reduced acreage and low area yields were observed. Poland achieved a good harvest of 2.6 million tons due to the yield, while the Czech Republic only achieved approx. 1.25 million t came. Below-average results were also achieved in the other smaller growing areas. The cultivation areas that have become known could be used as a basis for the coming harvest year 2021 . Average values were assumed for the area yields. Overall, an EU harvest of 16.6 million t is estimated. Increasing cultivation areas were determined in Germany with a little over 1 million hectares. With an average yield, this results in a harvest of around 3.6 million t . In contrast, in France the area sown was reduced to 1.1 million hectares . With an average expected yield, COCERAL estimates a French harvest of 3.4 million t. In Poland , the area and the expected hectare yields were set back to average values, so that the harvest result fell to 2.46 million t . In the other areas, slightly higher harvests were forecast for 2021. The international rapeseed prices have so far been unimpressed. Today's USDA estimate for the entire oilseed market is considered to be more important.
