Cultivation correction in North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony and slightly higher yields than initially thought increase the final harvest result by 600,000 t. At 10.8 million tonnes, 600,000 tonnes more potatoes came together than originally assumed on the official side. The market is no longer surprising. Already with the publication of the Anbaudaten, especially from Lower Saxony and NRW, many agreed that a too small harvest will be accepted. The Statistisches Landesamt in NRW had recently revised up the area from 27,600 hectares to 31,000 hectares upwards. In Lower Saxony, a correction of 5,500 hectares brought the final area to 107,900 hectares. The earnings were also corrected by the German government, which is just 432 dt / Ha to slightly above-average 444 dt / ha. The harvest result confirms that in Germany in 2016 a minimum average harvest had grown. In most cases the market supply was always good. Nevertheless, the 2016/17 financial year will enter the annals as a high-price year.Driven by a great demand for processing in the Benelux area, a high price level had quickly set in in the autumn of 2016. The upturn in demand for frit raw material in the beginning of May has finally calmed down in Western Europe. This week, most of the quotations held the previous week's level. It remains to be seen how long the serenity of the processors will continue. The connection to the new harvest could still be complete. The perennials of West Germany to North France continue to be drought. Regular rain is needed, as the soils have nowhere to have any significant reserves and especially the early potatoes can not be irrigated in Flanders. But now, first of all, the weather is very hot. The market with even higher prices, however, makes little sense, since even with so much money from empty supplies can not be pressed potatoes.
