Prices on the market for processing potatoes continued to rise last week. It is reported from Belgium that trade there is still only cautious. Problematic qualities find their way into the factories and are the main focus of market activity. But here too, it is expected that the dynamics will not change in the near future. The missing tubers are estimated at up to 800,000 tons and could cause prices for free lots to rise further. The quotation for Fontane was set at 25.00 euros/dt. raised. In France, too, the prices for the processing tubers have moved further north, so that the Innovator variety has a range of 22 to 27 euros/dt. is traded - the average price was 25.00 euros/dt. Prices have also recently increased slightly in Germany. As in Belgium, the Netherlands and France, trading is quiet, but the prospect of a possible shortage of supplies is supporting price developments. The trading volume on the EEX is still not too high. Nevertheless, the contracts increased slightly over the week.Producer prices for table potatoes rose significantly in this country. Particularly in the east of Germany, high-quality lots could fetch up to 40.00 euros/dt. traded. It is reported from the food retail sector that recent advertising campaigns in particular have led to increased sales. Given this, producers often keep their tubers in storage and speculate that prices will continue to rise in the coming weeks.
