In almost all regions, the clearing of table potatoes is progressing well. There are reports of large-scale storage work in the eastern growing areas of Lower Saxony. Clearing work and storage are also progressing quickly in western Lower Saxony. Promotions by food retailers are ensuring good demand everywhere, Reka continues to quote 33 euros/dt for table potatoes and the national average prices also remain largely unchanged compared to the previous week. Only weaker lots that cannot be stored are traded at more favorable conditions. The marketing situation on the processing market remains unchanged. In Germany, as in other countries, contract goods are the focus of factories and free lots are rarely traded or called off. However, supply is steadily increasing as harvesting work is progressing well. In Belgium, market participants are hoping for increasing demand from export business to Eastern and Southern Europe. Export demand is currently still slightly below expectations. Belgapom's price quotations remain at 10 euros for varieties such as Fontane and Challenger. Innovators are in slightly better demand in Belgium and can achieve up to 13 euros/dt.Regionally, drought makes clearing more difficult, according to the Belgian FiWap association. While the harvest is still ongoing in this country and has not yet been completed in the Netherlands and Belgium, the French harvest is largely on the home stretch. The prices have not changed here either. Reka is quoted unchanged, only for Innovator there is an increase of 1 euro to 13 euros/dt.
ZMP Live Expert Opinion
There are more and more signs of a bottoming out on the processing market. Table potatoes are stored extensively, especially in the northern and western surplus areas. Prices here are also tending to be stable. Overall, however, the current harvest continues to put a strain on the price structure.
