Marketing year 2014/15 could bring new record
(AMI) Frits commodity is so cheap in Europe that the manufacturer of potato products have good opportunities to increase their sales to third country markets significantly this season. The competitors in North America, there is a huge production cost, which however is very modern facilities and a convenient location to ports in addition to the raw material costs. 2013/14 achieved third-country exports of frozen and par-baked products, mainly French fries, record amounts. Almost 800,000 t cash outflow from the ultimate origins of Belgium and Netherlands. 5 year earlier there were only 300,000 metric tons. The new year started with large amounts of export. From June to July 128,000 fins (previous year: 100,000) t from the two countries on the world market. Germany played with 10 k (prior year: 7,000) t while a much lesser role, the amount but sharply increased. Quantitatively most important determination for the countries Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands in the first two months of the marketing year was again followed by Saudi Arabia (20,000 tons), Chile (8,500), Russia, Australia and the United Arab Emirates (25,000 t), Brazil. This is followed by Japan, Malaysia, Kuwait, and the Philippines. More was sold as good as anywhere.
ZMP Live Expert Opinion
Currently not worth the look on the price barometer. The prices are in the basement and will remain there until further notice. First of all must be cleaned up now. What's not winterized, must be sold quickly. What is not in the long term in the Commons, must also be given. There are enough quality problems, by to UWG low and to rot. Storekeeper hope that even a price renewal takes place after the turn of the year. That can be good, but perhaps not as hoped. Presumably, the contract prices for the season will be 2015/16 on the test bench. Low prices for alternative crops to meet the commodity buyers here. Might be worth a look on the futures market then. Are alternative opportunities available to hedge prices? This season reminds us to maintain the sales assurance in any case.
