The quantities of contract-free potatoes have mostly been cleared, or the producers are holding back on their offers in anticipation of prices rising further. Frozen manufacturers are more cautious in their price offers, as it is said, better prices can be obtained from exporters and from manufacturers of fresh fries. The plantings in Belgium are currently at a standstill due to heavy rainfall. A similar picture emerges on the German market. The free quantities that can still be bought are small. Customers have trouble covering their needs. Overall, prices are firmer in all regions. The Reka is also quoted today for types of fries up to 45 euros/dt. The food market continues to be a balanced market. The supply of potatoes is sufficient. In the heath region, stocks are being cleared continuously. Sales campaigns in the food retail trade for 5 kg sacks ensure that goods are called off constantly.In the western growing regions of Lower Saxony, the stocks of the old crop seem to have been largely cleared. In the Rhineland, the warehouse clearances are also ongoing. The quotations are mostly unchanged. For top qualities, however, surcharges can be achieved. Only a few contracts are traded on the EEX . Yesterday a closing price of 44.90 euros/dt was determined for the June contract with very little turnover. The EEX reference index rose by EUR 0.60 to EUR 42.10/dt in a weekly comparison.
